When I began consulting with this organization, they were undergoing significant changes as the founding Executive Director had recently passed away. They were also experiencing extreme financial challenges that threatened to close their doors.

Even worse… They were at risk for losing an accreditation that was critical to their funding and had developed a reputation for a dated service model.

We started to approach the work by facilitating conversations with key stakeholders to assess the challenges and identify immediate and long term goals. These efforts resulted in a plan to reorganize programs to eliminate costly services and develop a new model for service delivery.

This plan included important work with management and staff to enhance the workplace culture and increase accountability for improving services.

Lastly, we identified and sought new funding mechanisms to diversify their income sources.

Working Together

Within one year, the organization began experiencing positive results. The staff began working together more effectively, services improved and stakeholder satisfaction increased. The organization also received a 3-year accreditation. They have received the same level on every audit since then.

Today the organization is thriving.

The organization has developed a reputation for innovative services, has financial reserves, and has a team that works effectively together.

This case study affirms that a solid plan aligning people and processes, creates impactful results that enhance a nonprofit’s ability to achieve its mission.
